Manchester United ended their six-year trophy drought with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
After failing to add to their trophy cabinet since the 2017 Europa League, Manchester United's wait has come to an end with their first major trophy under manager Erik ten Hag.
"It's a great feeling to win this trophy. We've worked hard all season and we deserve this," said United captain Bruno Fernandes after the match.
"This is just the start. We want to win more trophies and we will continue to fight for them," Fernandes added.
Casemiro opened the scoring with a header in the 33rd minute, and Sven Botman scored an own goal in the 39th minute to give Manchester United a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Newcastle United had several chances to get back into the game in the second half, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
"We're disappointed with the result, but we can't fault the effort of the players," said Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe after the match.
"We had our chances, but we didn't take them. We'll learn from this and come back stronger next season," Howe added.
